Our story

About Drake

In September 2017, Drake Fultz stepped into the roll of Operating Partner and General Manager. Drake is an Asheville, NC native who started his career in the restaurant industry by working as a prep cook at Cracker Barrel in his home town. Over the course of a few years, he became an Associate Manager, a position in which he continued for about 14 years. After taking a leap and trying out a few other jobs, he finally landed here at Haywood 209 Cafe and now feels he has found the perfect position for himself. On his days off of work, Drake spends his time hand-crafting knives, a hobby-turned-business that he began in 2016. When he’s not working at the cafe or making knives, he loves to spend time outdoors and hanging out with his wife, Jessie, and their dog, Spur. Drake says that his favorite part about working here is the positive environment and the people he gets to see every day!
